INSTALLATION

WHERE SHOULD I PLACE MY DODECA SPEAKERS?
Avoid positioning the loudspeakers near heat sources, near windows or in direct sunlight, especially during the summer months.
HOW SHOULD I POSITION MY DODECA STEREO SPEAKERS?
The acoustic centre of traditional speakers - generally (but not necessarily) the tweeter – should be positioned close to ear level. If the speaker is a floorstander or a standmount on a fixed-height stand, the position of the acoustic centre can be modified by tilting the speaker backwards or forwards using the supplied spikes or adding metal discs under the spikes. The distance between a stereo pair of speakers and that from the acoustic centre and the listener should form an equilateral triangle in which the speakers and listener are at the three corners and at an angle of 60 degrees from each other. The distance between the speakers should ideally be between 1.5 to 2.5 metres.
HOW FAR FROM THE WALL SHOULD I POSITION MY STEREO SPEAKERS?
Generally, placing the speakers closer to a wall will increase bass and moving them away will reduce bass. Having said that, it is not a definitive rule as there are many more factors that can influence sound quality, such as materials used to construct the walls, etc. Some degree of trial and error testing will be necessary for subjective taste.
HOW SHOULD I POSITION MY DODECA STREAMING SPEAKER?
Differently to traditional speakers, the DoDeca streaming speaker can be positioned anywhere thanks to its unique shape and placement of its six drive units which gives a 360 degree immersive response.
HOW LONG DO I NEED TO BURN IN MY SPEAKERS?
Drive units are basically mechanical components and, as for everything mechanical (cars, for example), a run-in or burn-in period is required to reach full performance. During production, we already partly burn-in our products, but a further period in your own environment of three to four days will be instrumental in ensuring your speakers reach full performance. This can be done by playing music, or better still, wide band signals such as pink or white noise, at moderate volume levels. Ensure you do not play at high volume levels for such a long time to avoid damaging your loudspeakers and destroying your relationship with your neighbours! Similar rules apply to our streaming and active speakers, but in addition, there are also electronic circuits that benefit from an initial burn-in period as well as a short warm-up period (30 minutes) before any critical listening session.

MAINTENANCE

SHOULD I KEEP MY DODECA CONSTANTLY POWERED ON?
While is it true that after a certain burn-in time, the electronic components inside the DoDeca, or any amplifier for that matter, will stabilise in temperature and the sound will improve, it is not advisable to leave it powered on and idle for long periods of time. This will prolong the life of the electronic components and help reduce power consumption (lower bills to pay!).
HOW DO I CLEAN MY DODECA PRODUCTS?
Our speakers do not require any special maintenance except for general cleaning. Do not polish or use cleaning products, furniture polishes, cleaning liquids or alcohol that could stain or damage the cabinets or the speakers. A slightly dampened soft microfibre cloth should be used, ensuring that the cloth is clean and free from dust or grit. Wood is a natural and always alive material, therefore sensitive to external agents. Avoid positioning the loudspeakers near heat sources or near windows, especially during the summer months. Do not leave the speakers exposed to direct sunlight.
